OTDR: EXFO OTDR

OTDRs are at the core of EXFO’s optical expertise. Leading the OTDR market with a 48% market share and the broadest OTDR portfolio, EXFO offers an OTDR built smart for any type of network.

Based on true understanding of the field reality and 20 years of OTDR expertise, EXFO’s OTDRs are designed to meet network operators’ latest requirements. Combining intelligence and accuracy with the utmost simplicity, our solutions require minimal training and provide you with measurements you can trust, minimizing truck rolls and accelerating workflow in the field.

With numerous singlemode and multimode configurations available at several wavelengths, our OTDRs come in handheld or modular formats.

Access/LAN/WAN

When testing LAN/WAN networks, important OTDR characteristics must be considered; ensure that the OTDR:
• Has short dead zones
• Offers excellent flexibility enabling multimode and singlemode testing with a single unit
• Allows for controlled multimode launch conditions, for maximum loss accuracy

The Quad Powerhouse

The FTB-200 Compact Platform and the FTB-7200D LAN/WAN Access OTDR make it ideal for contractors to test any fiber type, along with another module such as an OLTS or Ethernet tester for a complete test solution. The FTB-7200D OTDR provides 36 dB of dynamic range, controlled multimode launch conditions, a 1 m dead zone and a summary screen for quick pass/fail indication. Plus, its Full-Screen mode enhances the graph area by 130% for easy, in-field trace analysis.

Empowering Frontline Access Technicians

The FTB-1, the one-module platform for dedicated applications, and the FTB-720 LAN/WAN Access OTDR are perfect for singlemode and multimode fiber installers. A great quality/price ratio, the FTB-720 OTDR offers 35 dB of dynamic range, controlled multimode launch conditions, a 0.8 m dead zone and a summary screen for quick pass/fail indication. Plus, its landscape screen facilitates in-field trace analysis.

The Lightweight, On-the-Go Alternative

The handheld AXS-110 comes fully equipped with quad functionalities, a power meter, a VFL and a light source. With a dynamic range of up to 32 dB, exceptional 0.8 m dead zones and over 8 hours of operation, this powerful handheld OTDR is ideal for all installation and maintenance jobs.

FTTH/MDU PON

FTTx/MDU PON networks require OTDRs to test through high-port-count splitters (up to 1x64), with loss levels up to 21 dB. In addition, for maintaining QoS while testing, in-service troubleshooting using a 1625 nm filtered port is required.

Our Most Complete Solution for Network Construction

The two-slot FTB-200 Compact Platform and FTB-7300E PON FTTx/MDU OTDR offer best-in-class, highly scalable PON optimization. With a dynamic range of 39 dB, they enable testing at 1310, 1490, 1550 and 1625/1650 nm as well as through high-port-count splitters. This complete solution includes bidirectional analysis, Template mode and an at-a glance summary screen.

FTTx/MDU Projects Completed Faster

The FTB-1, the one-module platform for dedicated applications, and the FTB-730 PON FTTx/MDU OTDR are optimized for access fiber deployments and troubleshooting. With a dynamic range of 39 dB, this solution enables testing at 1310, 1490, 1550 and 1625/1650 nm, as well as through high-port-count splitters. What’s more, its high-end connectivity brings unprecedented data exchange to technicians while in the field.

The Handheld, Last-Mile Troubleshooting Unit

The AXS-100 Access OTDR, designed for singlemode fiber troubleshooting, includes a summary screen for better results interpretation and in-service testing capacity.

Our Powerful Handheld Unit

The AXS-110 is optimized for testing PON within FTTx architectures. This lightweight unit characterizes splitters and offers unbeatable applications.

Metro/CWDM/Long-Haul

Long-haul and metro architectures require high-dynamic-range values to reach greater distances; the OTDR therefore must offer good resolution due to the proximity of many splice points.
Furthermore, efficient CWDM network testing requires combining as many wavelengths as possible into a single unit.

The Total Fiber Characterization Kit

Combining the FTB-5500B PMD Analyzer and the FTB-5800 Chromatic Dispersion Analyzer modules along with the FTB-7500E Long-Haul OTDR in the FTB-500 Platform results in the most accurate fiber-characterization solution on the market.

Eight Wavelengths Ready to Go

Two FTB-7400E CWDM OTDR modules combined in the FTB-200 Compact Platform can test through CWDM-based multiplexers and demultiplexers at up to eight ITU-recommended wavelengths.

No-Compromise Versatility for Metro and Long-Haul Testing

The FTB-7400E Metro OTDR module or FTB-7500E Long-Haul OTDR module housed in the FTB-200 Compact Platform combine short dead zones and high dynamic range to cover longer distances. The industry-leading linearity of ± 0.03 dB/dB along with 256 000 data points is what makes them the most reliable OTDRs on the market.

Ultra-long Haul

Ultra-long-haul and very-high-speed networks contain the longest fiber spans; deploying and maintaining such networks therefore requires the highest OTDR dynamic range (up to 50 dB).

Combining Power, Ultra-Long Distances and More

Combine the FTB-5500B PMD Analyzer and the FTB-5800 Chromatic Dispersion Analyzer with the FTB-7600E Ultra-Long-Haul OTDR in the FTB-500 Platform for the most powerful fiber-characterization kit on the market.

The Ultra-Long-Haul Portable Combo

Housed in the FTB-200 Compact Platform, the FTB-7600E Ultra-Long-Haul OTDR has a true 50 dB dynamic range at 1310/1550 nm and can test over a 200 km span.
